VOLUNTARY WORK INTERNSHIP

SOUTH AFRICA, 2018

MOVEMENT DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
The Movement Development Program is an organisation created by students from Avans University in the Netherlands. MDP supports local organisations in Cape Town who believe that sport is the key to a brighter future. Physical education is proven to give children more motivation in life. They do better in school and learn to stay away from things like drugs, alcohol and violence. Watch the video on this page to see MDP students in action.

MY STORY
I came to South Africa to be a volunteer in the marketing & design department of the Ukuphumelela Trust and MDP. I was going to help build the brand. Once I got to Cape Town I quickly noticed a lack of good quality pictures. Almost no footage existed of the former MDP students and the children they worked with. To be fair, most former students where there to help with sports. I suggested to bring my camera to Khayelitsha one day to shoot the social media and website content we needed. And that’s what I did. I loved Khayelitsha so much that I started coming back every week.
